Care for Carers
Programme

Supporting burnout, compassion fatigue, and emotional exhaustion

Women been cared for

Programme Overview

When you spend your days caring for others — whether professionally or for a loved one the cost of that care accumulates quietly. Over time, absorbing others’ pain, distress, and trauma can lead to compassion fatigue: a deep physical, emotional, and spiritual exhaustion that goes beyond ordinary tiredness. You may find yourself emotionally numb, unable to switch off, or dreading the people and situations you once felt called to support. This is not weakness. It is what happens when caring people give without adequate support for themselves.

The Care for Carers Programme is designed specifically for people experiencing compassion fatigue and carer exhaustion. It offers far more than rest — it gives you the structured support, professional guidance, and protected time needed to process what you’ve absorbed and genuinely restore your reserves. Here, for once, you are the one being cared for.

You’ll be paired with a programme mentor who provides daily one-on-one support tailored entirely to you. Counselling and pastoral care are available to help process secondary trauma safely, because compassion fatigue often carries an emotional weight that rest alone cannot lift. Every element of your stay is shaped around what you need.

  • Work in a caregiving or helping profession (e.g. support worker, nurse, counsellor, social worker).

Expected Outcomes

Many experience a renewed sense of purpose and perspective, along with practical ways to care for themselves while continuing to care for others.
